While the red car driver was absolutely in the wrong when it came to property damage and unnecessary use of force, the cammer was culpable for instigating things. Cammer seemed to be very impatient like he absolutely needed to maintain speed instead of giving space when it was clear that the blue car wanted to turn. It was completely unnecessary and he should just reduce speed instead of cutting in front of the red car, which I don't even believe he actually saw. In fact, the driving is such that the smaller red car canceled their signal when they saw cammer barreling down lane one, then only took lane one themselves once the cammer slowed down a bit. I do think the tipping point was the second time the red car was cut off. At this point, it might have felt extremely personal for the red Ford, like "what's your bloody problem, mate?!" sort of personal. Still, the cammer did not deserve to have his window smashed. The driver of the red Ford simply let his emotions get the better of him. Maybe if it only happened once, then this would have been a non-event, but even when we won't be able to know what the state of mind of the red car driver was, being cut off twice may have triggered a fight or flight response, really a "how dare they challenge me" sort of response, especially when he was not driving aggressively himself. In short, cammer inadvertently instigated this by driving with little care but red car was definitely the one who made it worse. If I were to rate them, a big fat C- or a D for cammer and a solid F for red car.

In a nutshell: Impatient cammer tailgates, undertakes, and cuts off car; the short-fused driver of which then smashes cammer's window. Both idiots, imo.

Thats the Wolverhampton Road to the west of Birmingham. Its a 40 limit with speed cameras. There's lots of left and right turns and cross roads so having to slow for other road users is a given. And its full of drivers like the cammer and the person breaking the window.

I'm hoping that wasn't an IAM Roadsmart member or indeed, even an Observer! I seem to recall that's how Ashley's "Deluded Viewer" series started.

Cammer was what you call a tool and picked the wrong person to annoy . The person that smashed the window is just petty about being overtaken and if had simply moved into the left lane or just let it go that's it.

The cammer was an idiot. However, why was the driver of the red car was just as bad, brake checking the cammer and hogging and sitting in lane two when barely travelling any faster than lane one. If you are not going to overtake in a prompt and timely manner then you should be in lane one. Too many drivers are oblivious to the problems that they are causing behind them. People rightly get upset by the fools who undertake and tailgate but they also completely ignore the lane hogs that create the situation in the first place. If the lane hog had moved to lane one just like the van then the cammer could've overtaken safely and properly. All too often on dual carriageways and motorways you find lane two and three chock full of traffic with very little traffic in lane one.

Yeah never really understood the need to undertake people on dual carriageways around towns. As annoying as it is when they sit in the outside lane the speed limit is 40max and there are that many traffic lights you will rarely get ahead. The reason people sit in them is because they are eventually turning right eventually after about 3 sets of traffic lights 😂

Would be interesting to know if the cammer's driving habits have changed after this, all things considered.

What on earth happened with the cammer? They seem to be driving normally, and then turned into a lunatic. Did they burst a blood vessel in their colon, which caused a sudden circulation of shit to the brain? The first undertake seems to trigger the Ford driver, which alone probably wouldn't have lead to confrontation. But then the cammer focuses solely on the Citroen, and when they cut the cammer off, the cammer swings back to lane two. I think at this point the cammer hadn't actually been paying attention and didn't notice that the Ford had coming flying behind them, which led to a very dangereous cutting off (by accident most likely). From the Ford's perspective, they just saw someone undertake them, and then almost ram them off the road as they tried to pass again. Kind of an understandable reaction.

Oh that great Ashley-ism of "If the other car was a police car". You've reminded me of a fairly recent tv ad for a certain well known Uk opticians chain. Where John Cleese's white car doesn't start, so he goes and gets a tree branch to give it a "damn good thrashing" just like he did years earlier in that famous Fawlty Towers sketch. Well in the tv ad, he mistook a parked and occupied police car for his own white car, thus illustrating the need to visit that well known opticians chain. As in "Should have gone to..." etc.

This is the Wolverhampton rd in Oldbury West Midlands. I drive there every week to work. Doesn't surprise me. I've been threatened, cut-up, flashed headlights etc. Standard behaviour there.

Allowing for the distortion that the dash cam creates, the cammer is clearly tailgating the red car and weaving as well as cutting up the red car to make an overtake. I am not surprised that the red car occupants got angry but that does not excuse criminal damage.

One idiot was an idiot to another idiot so the other idiot had to out idiot the original idiot. People need to seriously calm down, it's crazy. Even with the reckless driving and undertaking they all ended stopped at the same light in the end...

Both parties behaved badly, though the cammer didn't cause any permanent damage on this occasion so will probably be the one that feels most aggrieved. Add two measures of poor driving to two measures of entitlement and this is what happens. No-one comes out of this with any credit. .

You just know he's one of those people that drive like a twat all the time, only this day he met a bigger twat than he is. One day the bigger twat (red car) will meet an even bigger twat also and trying to smash their window might end badly for him. In other words, it's just not worth it!

Cammer was driving fine until red car touched the breaks, I think for the speed camera. Cammer triggered at that point, maybe thought they were being brake-tested then cammer turns into an ass, triggers the red car who turns into an ass. When two assholes meet, a lot of shit happens!

Obviously there is no excuse for smashing a window. The red car (plus other cars) didn't have the greatest of lane discipline but it definitely wasn't the worst I've seen. An impatient and aggressive cammer just made the whole situation worse.

The only thing is, the events have not happened yet, so maybe there is, or will be, time to change the events when it happens on the 22nd of August 24 🤔

Once certain people are in a car little things become horribly triggering, must get in front turns to must punish someone else who wanted to get in front. Do they do this when they're out walking around town and accidentally bump into someone else?

Smashing a window suggests being a dick. So hogging the outside lane was prolly a deliberate dick move rather than absent-mindedness. Js

40mph road and the driver of the other car was going around that speed I’d estimate so why the impatience? Obviously the other car does this frequently to try and get a reaction as they carry something to smash windscreens, well done for taking the bait.

I'm a little late in commenting on this but I'm making a point of doing so before reading anyone else's comments so as not to influence my own thoughts. Well, that was pretty aggressive driving by the cam car. Even before any undertaking / overtaking / lane weaving had taken place, I could see from the onset they were less than 2 seconds behind the red car when they were both in lane 2. Try to imagine what that looks like in the mirror of the red car in front. I'd say for starters, it gives the impression the cam car is "a bit of a pusher" as Ashley once put it. I believe that's what started things off and what followed compounded the issue. Because thereafter, the cam car starts weaving back and forth between both lanes in an effort to get ahead. I'm not sure what speed the cam car was doing in relation to the speed limit but it seemed excessive for the conditions. Also, their two lane changes from lane 2 to 1 seemed quite badly timed, coinciding with increased risk from the left, though I'm not sure if that car on the left, stationary at a right angle was occupied or parked.. but there again the cam car driver wouldn't have known either. Then there was the car turning left into the side street. How sure can you be that it wouldn't have changed it's mind at the last moment and pulled back out into the carriageway at the same time the cam car changed from lane 2 to 1? I also have to wonder if there was some other incident between these two cars prior to this clip. I noticed the cam car stopped considerably short of the stop line at the traffic lights and I have to wonder if that was because they didn't want to stop directly side by side with the red estate car...and possibly because of a prior incident? Either way, cam car needs to chill out and not drive in such an extreme way. Of course that still doesn't excuse anyone throwing objects from their own vehicle. I guess though the cam car can't report the incident, due to their own incriminating video footage of their appalling driving. I also find it rather intriguing they submitted this footage to Ash. Were they expecting Ash to side with them, deluded viewer style? I'd be interested to know what make of car the cammer was driving and what colour. Yes i know, we shouldn't stereotype but as we know, certain makes and appearances can set other drivers off. For example, dark coloured "sporty looking" cars with "gangsta" alloys and tints. Also, the cammers choice of music tells me they're unlikely to be a "mellow" person. I will now read everyone else's comments on this for the first time.

Undertaking and cutting in like that is very clearly aggressive, nothing but interest in absolute progress because the only issue was a perceived annoyance at one motorist going slower than the cammer. Cutting in after lane-changing away from the car turning left is also very clear "I need to be in front of you" behaviour that was reckless and aggressive. I'm aghast that anyone would respond like this to that sort of aggression, and it certainly was not warranted, but I am also not entirely surprised. Fact is you never ever know who is behind the wheel of another car, you don't know what they've dealt with that day, you have no idea if you will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Ashley, I’d be interested to know if the cammer made any judgement on their own driving when they submitted the clip, and whether anything was reported to the police? Obviously the other parties actions were completely unacceptable and they should be charged with criminal damage or whatever, but the manner of driving of the cammer was atrocious - selfish is the best word I can think of to describe it.

Dreadful, entitled driving from both cars involved in the incident, and a nasty gratuitous bit of pushback from the "insulted" outer lane hogger at the end. For me, the worst bit of driving is the way the cammer involves the blameless red C1 driver in the duel. This driver had probably gone into the outer lane to pass the turning blue Focus passed by the cammer at 1:16. It's already moving back routinely, without indicating, and then aborts the move to let the idiot charge past on the left, before the cammer for whatever reason decides that this particular undertake would be one too far. It looks as though allowing the C1 to move left while barely easing off was calculated to stick it to the driver of the already undertaken red Ford by nipping dangerously in front of it. That driver, equally absurdly, got the hump again and decided to show the cammer he'd messed with the wrong guy. (I can't be bothered to be gender neutral.) Grow up, both of you. Last shout-out to the C1 driver who then paid the further price of a hold-up at green lights for two drivers massaging whatever bruises their egos have sustained through their driving. The only compensations are that at least nobody got hurt* and nobody on two wheels or two legs got mixed up in it. *Edit: I assume!

That was some awful driving and should result in a suspended license, although I realise that's not how it works. I can understand being frustrated by the driving.. have a feeling the other driver didn't intend to break the window and was probably shocked when it happened that's why they left so quick... But the police will be paying them a visit.

Looks like the cammer thought he was playing GTA V. Im not condoning the Focus drivers reaction and smashing the cammers window but they did have a right to be annoyed. Shout out to the other road users who tried to stay out of the cammers way.
